PopMatrix(); is a bi-annual pop-up market for New Media student artisans, makers, and creators at TMU to sell their handmade wares and fabricated goods. After their first in-person event since the pandemic, I co-led a refresh of the student organization's visual identity and helped establish branding guidelines for future projects in this new era for the market.
Brand Refresh Development
Based on feedback from New Media students and the PopMatrix(); team, I sought to refine the original visual design of the brand while still keeping the retro, pixel art aesthetics the organization is known for. This began with introducing a standard pixel font to be used as the wordmark logo as well as for text in social media and print material. For the cube, I played with different styles and colour combinations that presented a more fun and brighter image while still paying homage to the original design. The final iteration was kept fairly simple yet with added dimension in fitting with the inspiration of the brand's name - a coding function from Processing software that moves (or "pops") a shape to the forefront of a stack of them.

Digital and Print Graphic Design
With the establishment of design standards for the brand's visual identity, we produced a variety of digital and print designs for the event. I assisted in the creation of the banner and poster designs done with my Co-Head of Design, Komal Lally, and prepared vendor signs for participating artists at the event.
