FIRST Canada Connects is a video series for FIRST Robotics Canada that aims to connect high school students with the science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) industry. Members of the organization's youth council would host pre-recorded interviews and roundtable discussions with companies and post-secondary schools in STEM such as Humber College and Redpath to spotlight industry leaders and future opportunities for students.
During the pandemic when the series switched to a Zoom-style interview format, I was tasked with establishing a brand identity for the series and a visual style for their videos. The goal was to establish a brand identity for the series that is unique to other existing FIRST branding while clearly expressing its connection to the FIRST Canada brand.
Process
Design Ideation
• Clean, modern look in fitting with career-focused subject matter that appeals to high school robotics students
• "Connect" = share, conversation, networking
• Career-orientated, future opportunities = forward, action
The final product is a a clean logo design and visual style that matches the professional content and can be differentiated from other FIRST programming while matching the brand identity of the organization.

Final Logo
• Simple yet clean design fitting with the professional theme
• Icon logo: networking, sharing symbol
• FIRST branding is clear through the use of the same font and the logo acting as the most dominant image

Motion Graphics
I designed animations for the edited video series, including logo introductions with the respective featured company, stinger transitions, and name card lower thirds. These animations convey a clean and professional brand identity in a simple yet dynamic manner.

Video Editing
As part of their switch to online interviews, I edited the video series with the new branding, ensuring that the brand identity and visual style followed throughout the series. These videos were uploaded from 2021-2022 on the FIRST Robotics Canada YouTube channel.
